What makes you passionate about plastic surgery?

The ability to improve someone’s quality of life using applied anatomy, surgical techniques, and my hands is incredibly rewarding. I love seeing the results of my work, and plastic surgery almost always involves a visual result.

Whether it’s enhancing beauty through cosmetic surgery or reconstructing a body part affected by cancer or trauma, each procedure is a unique story of transformation for a real person that I get to be a part of.

How would you summarize your practice philosophy?

My practice philosophy is simple. I am a people person, not a salesperson. My approach to plastic surgery is grounded in honesty and an evidence-based methodology. I don’t believe in selling unnecessary procedures. Instead, I focus on providing truthful, data-driven advice.

My practice is about building trust and offering solutions that genuinely benefit my patients, much like I would for my own friends and family.

What does a successful plastic surgery outcome look like to you?

A successful outcome is where both the patient and I, as the surgeon, are happy. It’s about seeing our patients return with renewed self-esteem or a functional concern corrected.

The worst outcome, in my view, is not when both the patient and surgeon are unhappy, but rather when I am pleased with the result and the patient is not. This discrepancy indicates a failure in setting the right expectations, which is crucial in our journey together.

What is your favorite part about being a plastic surgeon in Asheville?

Asheville is a special place, and its people reflect that uniqueness. The positive energy, the genuine friendliness, and the down-to-earth nature of our patients make my work here in Western North Carolina truly enjoyable. Connecting with patients on a personal level and being part of this vibrant community is something I cherish deeply.

How do you stay updated with the latest techniques and technologies in plastic surgery?

My background in academic surgery instilled in me a lifelong commitment to learning. I stay abreast of the latest developments in plastic surgery through continuous education, attending academic conferences, and collaborating with colleagues. This ongoing pursuit of knowledge ensures that I bring the most advanced, evidence-based, and effective techniques to my practice.
