Breast asymmetry is a common concern among women, with studies estimating that over 50% of women experience some degree of breast size or shape difference. While mild variations are normal, noticeable asymmetry can affect self-confidence, clothing fit, and overall body balance. Dr. Eric Halvorson, a board-certified plastic surgeon, specializes in breast asymmetry correction, offering personalized surgical solutions to create a natural, proportional breast appearance.

Understanding Breast Asymmetry & Its Causes

Breast asymmetry can result from genetics, hormonal fluctuations, previous surgeries, or medical conditions. Some common causes include:

Developmental Differences

Natural variations in growth during puberty

Hormonal Imbalances

Changes due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, or menopause

Prior Breast Surgery

Uneven results from previous augmentation, reduction, or reconstruction

Poland Syndrome

A congenital condition affecting breast and chest muscle development

Weight Fluctuations

Changes in fat distribution impacting breast size

How Breast Asymmetry Correction Works

Dr. Halvorson tailors each procedure based on the patient’s specific needs. Common surgical techniques include:

Breast Augmentation (Implants or Fat Transfer)

To enhance the smaller breast for improved balance

Breast Reduction

To reshape and reduce the larger breast for a more symmetrical appearance

Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

To correct differences in nipple height or sagging

Revision Surgery

For patients unhappy with prior breast augmentation or reduction results

Each procedure is performed with meticulous attention to symmetry and proportion, ensuring a natural, aesthetically balanced outcome.

Benefits of Breast Asymmetry Correction

  • Improves overall breast balance and proportion
  • Enhances clothing fit and comfort
